FAQs
How far in advance should I order my cake?
Since I work full time in addition to making cakes, it is very difficult for me to bake anything with short notice. My schedule only allows me to take one custom order a week, so my calendar does tend to fill up quickly (usually I am fully booked 2-3 months in advance).
I would say as soon as you know about a celebration you'd like a cake for, send me an email! As long as you know the specific date and I don't have any travel or family plans, I can usually get you booked pretty far in advance! Things like guest count, flavors, and design can be nailed down closer to the event date.
How do I know where to pick up my cake? Do you offer delivery?
Upon receipt of payment, I will reach out via email and share my pickup address. I run my business out of my home and do not have a storefront - I am located in West Parker (Bradbury Ranch). I require delivery for large orders, and delivery is available for smaller orders as well upon request. Delivery costs $25 plus $2 per mile from my house to the delivery location.
Should I keep my cake refrigerated? How should I cut it?
Good questions! Please refer to this page (also sent right before every cake pickup) for specific cake care and cake cutting instructions.
Uncut cakes will stay fresh for up to 5 days in the refrigerator and up to 2 weeks in the freezer. Leftover cake slices can be individually wrapped and eaten later!
Why do custom cakes cost so much?
Most people do not realize how time consuming it is to create custom cakes - below is a rough breakdown of how much time is dedicated to each custom order. Those hours, in addition to the material and ingredient costs makes for an expensive creation! However, my goal is for you to be THRILLED to have the perfect cake for your event, so in the end most clients feel that the result is worth the cost.
Planning the order (client communication, design planning and research, shopping for ingredients and materials, etc.) = 1 hour
Baking the cake layers = 1 hour per tier
Making buttercream = 1 hour per tier
Crumb coating and frosting the cake = 1 hour per tier
Decorating = 2-3 hours per tier
Photographing and packaging = 1 hour per order
Total = 7 hours per cake (minimum, for a single-tiered cake)
Do you have hours of operation?
Since I work out of my home and do not have a storefront, I operate by pickup appointment only. Please treat this time as you would any other appointment, and try to arrive on time since I do plan my day around it!Â
Do you offer refunds?
Full payment is due at the time of order placement, and no refunds will be offered. However, a 50% credit towards a future order will be given in the event of the need for a cancellation with at least a week's notice.
